On March 23, 2012, you posted the article “The silkworm returns to Mexico,” a reprint of Mabel F. Knight’s 1995 article of the same title that originally appeared, allegedly, in a 1995 issue of Mexican American Review. There are many and serious errors in your piece, not least of which is that the first captioned photo is not of Neill James but of Barbara Stanwyck. Having just finished writing a biography of Neill James, I wish to point out that Miss James never attended Columbia or the University of Chicago and was not born on a plantation in Granada (sic), Mississippi. She was born at Gore Springs MS near Grenada. She did not pioneer the blouse-making and -selling industry in Jalisco (that was done by Helen Kirtland Goodridge), and she was not a friend of Amelia Earhart; in fact she never met Earhart. There are so many other errors of fact in your article that one must wonder who wrote it in the first place. If you have background information about how you came across it, I would appreciate receiving it. Thank you. Stephen Preston Banks
